When the person you love most in this world leaves you, you can't accept this easily. I sure couldn't. And because of this, the reactions you give are instinctive and emotional - I was totally overwhelmed by my emotions. I'll tell you what I went through: My girlfriend, Tianna left me after one year. I loved her so much and couldn't even think of a life without her. To get my ex back, I called her and begged her to come back, Got2b glued I apologized every time. She was already fed up with me so naturally so all this brought me nowhere. She didn't even answer my calls any more. Nothing seemed to work and I was out of ideas! I thought it was completely hopeless!
Then something struck me and I realized in a flash that I was so desperate that my mind wasn't working correctly and my judgment was blurred. I was running in circles by trying to do things myself. Yes, reverse that! The best method to get your ex back is by making them think that from this moment on, you are inaccessible to them. i.e. They couldn't have you now even if they wanted. This makes a huge difference in everything!
